28 June 2022events / NewsListen to our Operations Director Lizzie Croft when she delivers a session on Instructional Coaching – a key aspect of the ECF programme with Peps Mccrae (Ambition Institute) -one of the festival partners. Lizzie has written the following after leading a seminar at ResearchED Kent at the Turner Free School on the 11th June: Throughout this year I have worked closely with a rich variety of schools, often helping staff to overcome logistical barriers to the instructional coaching element of the ECF. We know instructional coaching has such importance and value for our novice teachers, but sometimes it can be hard to do what we know needs to be done. I was able to speak about the key lessons I have learned from my school visits this year, talking about the common observed issues and how to resolve them. I hope that I was able to give school leaders key takeaways that they could take back to school, to make instructional coaching work even better in their context and setting. We understand how challenging this can be, hopefully schools feel supported by us as we draw upon our experiences this year. During the session it was a delight to have the room packed full of induction coordinators and mentors, and a handful of educational celebrities too! There was certainly a buzz in the room and a real enthusiasm for what leaders could take back to their schools. Several follow up conversations with colleagues have taken place and I have really valued the opportunity to work closely with new schools, helping them to make instructional coaching work.    I am really looking forward to speaking on this topic again with Peps Mccrae at the Wellington Festival of education on 7th and 8th July.
